doTERRA OnGuard _Protective Blend

doTERRA On Guard essential Oil

essential oils for a diffuserThe health of my family is a top priority for me. Especially in the winter when there seems to be a never ending merry-go-round of coughs and colds.

I use DoTERRA On Guard blend most days and every day at the first sign of a sniffle.

This provides a natural and effective alternative for immune support.

The beauty of this blend lies in its adaptable nature, you can use it in many different ways depending on who in your family is using it.

How do I use doTERRA On Guard?

It’s important to use Essential Oils safely and I’ve written another post about how to do this. You can read it here

There are many different ways to use doTERRA On Guard. You can diffuse it, massage with it, ingest it and use it as a multi-purpose cleaner in your house.

Diffused essential oils hang around in the air for hours after. This helps fight off any airborne pathogens (Think of all those ‘germs’ in the air after a good sneeze or cough session) Its best diffused in an ultrasonic diffuser to maintain all the benefits of the oil.

If you’re going to use it topically be sure to dilute it in some carrier oil (I use fractionated coconut oil).  You should always dilute essential oils. The dosage for topical massage is 1 drop of On Guard to 15 drops of carrier oil.

In young children and the elderly, the best place to massage is the bottom of your feet.

They are one of the most absorbant places in your body! If you’re otherwise healthy then massage some of this blend onto the following areas:

  • Thymus area (a gland that helps to train and develop our White Blood Cells which make up part of our imune system) Locations of major endocrine glands

  • Under your armpits. Your armpits contain lymph glands, by stimulating these you stimulate the immune response (Part of the role of your lymphatic system is to transport infection-fighting white blood cells around your body and to remove toxins and waste)

How I like to use this oil in winter is to put 2 drops in my water bottle (1lt) and drink through the day. I

‘ll give the drinking bottle a shake to disperse the oil before I take a drink. I also make my son a snack of On Guard apples for him to munch on during the day.

Cleaning with doTERRA On Guard

Cleaning with doTERRA On Guard has some impressive perks.

This essential oil blend is known for its natural disinfecting power, which helps keep surfaces not just clean, but also germ-free.

With that mix of wild orange, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary, it smells great, boosting your mood as you clean.

It’s tough on grime and bacteria, but gentle on your skin.

Using a natural cleaner limits your exposure to harsh chemicals so it’s worth it for me!

I use the following recipe as a general purpose cleaner in my kitchen and bathroom. Its safe, effective and smells great.
Ingredients:
16 oz. glass spray bottle
1/4 cup white vinegar
1¾ cups water
30 drops doTERRA On Guard essential oil

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to spray bottle.
  2. Shake thoroughly.

Notes: I recommend using glass to store your essential oil products in. These oils are very potent and can actually eat through plastic!

The Bottom Line

DoTERRA On Guard essential oil is one of my favourite go-to oils. It’s versatile (How many blends can claim immune protection and great household cleaner?) and it’s great value for money.
